The Day I Cried, 'Papa, Mama!'

I guess, to my parents, one of my greatest milestones took place on 15 September 2008.
After giving me a bath, and while dressing me, my Mummy in jest, said, 'Mama, Mama, Mama, MOMMY!'.
On hearing this, it occurred to me that I could say 'Mama' more easily than 'Mommy'.
So I took a deep breath, and hollered, 'MAMA !!'.
This got Mommy and Daddy really excited. It was the first time I spoke something they really wanted to hear.
They asked me to say, 'Papa Mama' and after I struggled for some moments to control my mouth and lips, I hollered, 'BABA, MA !'.
I think I made their day. And they got me to say it all again on film.
That day, I was still shy of 5 months old. To them, it was a FANTASTIC BREAKTHROUGH because most babies only speak after they are a year old or later. They think I am gifted !

Mommy Minder

One of the most important words to me is 'Mama'. I use it to mean dozens of things, like 'I want milk', 'Don't leave me', 'Carry me', 'I miss you' and 'I want to sleep', or even 'Stop digging my booger!'.

'Mamaaaa !!'

Romantic Boy

One day, when I was 5.5 months old and Mommy was eating lunch, she let her hand dangle down and said, 'Hold hands.' I lifted my right hand to grasp hers and then lifted my left as well so I could hand on with TWO hands. She told Daddy later that I am a romantic boy.

But I only hold Daddy with ONE hand (no, I am not biased at all).

Ambushing Daddy

It's 11am and Mommy says Daddy coming home at 7pm. I'm excited to ambush daddy.

I wait. I count with my 10 fingers. He should be back anytime now.

I'm still waiting. I take off my shirt as it is really hot.

Two problems tho', my ammunition DROOL has a trajectory that can only shoot downwards. The 2nd problem is, Mommy says Daddy will be coming home from behind me !

Have A Megawatt Day !

Everywhere I go, people stop to ask how old I am and what I drink. They are surprised that I am only 5 months old and they marvel that breastmilk can take me this far.

The thing that passer-bys and shopping aunties like about me is my megawatt smile. It always makes their day ! Hope my smile brigthens your day too.

My Favourite Place To Sleep

Of all the beds I have slept on, (cot, cooling mat, Daddy's mattress and the master bed), the bed I nestle and stay asleep best in is my Mommy's nursing pillow which she uses to carry me to nurse me on.
Because I like to snooze and nurse at the same time, I usually take 1.5 to 2 hrs per feed. Which frustrates poor Mommy coz she sits immobilised while she awaits my awakening.
This happens for 8 feeds every day !

What A Flipper I Am!

I am now 5 months old. I can't explain it, but I just love to flip to the position featured on the left. Most times, I land on my face and then try to adjust my head so that I can at least breathe.
My parents are quite nervous and check on me every 5 mins when they are awake to make sure I am ok.

I am now 5 months old. I hav begun to sleep on my side. It comforts me to feel the bed so snug against my face.

I now like to roll about. But so often I get stuck coz one arm gets trapped under my body and I can't make a full turn. Mommy has to constantly watch me like a hawk in case I suffocate myself.

Worth My Weight In Gold !

Here I am, up close and personal.

I am now 4.5months old and just had my first 5-in-1 vaccination for babies.

The pediatrician says I am in the 90th percentile for weight and height. That means I am taller and heavier than the average baby.

Usually, babies who are breastfed are lighter than formula fed babies so I am an exception.

Mommie asked why and Ped said moms who take fish oil have heavier babies. That's TRUE! Coz Mommie takes one Alaskan Salmon Oil capsule every day plus lots of fish every week !)

Gripe with Gusto !

I used to Gripe a lot whenever I was given the famous Gripe Water aka Fei Zai Soi (Fat Baby's Water in Cantonese).
Then one day Mommie enthusiastically called Daddie to come watch me drink it. Suddenly I found I had to perform and I did. I swallowed half teaspoon of it at a time and each time they APPLAUDED for me, for me! So I finished my entire (diluted) dosage.
From that day on, I have always griped with GUSTO !
(Applause, please)

Hush, I got to concentrate ....

Mommie loves me to sleep coz at 4.5 months old, I only go to sleep at 2am. That's coz I need to be tanked up with LOADS of breastmilk before I can sleep from 2 am till 9am (7-hr record for a baby is great!) before I need another feed. Then I sleep again till 11.30am and feed again.
(By the way, usually babies can only last 2-3 hrs before they are hungry again !)
Sleep. Feed. Sleep. Feed. Sleep. Feed. Then Pooooo ! That's what I doooo !

At home, my nick name is Happy Boy coz that's what I am !

Here I am with lots of long hair which suits me just fine coz I have got A LOT OF FOREHEAD SPACE !
If my hair were any longer, I am sure Mommie will tie plaits for me - Hurray !!

Where I Learned To Lift Weights

One afternoon, Mommie put me in front of the t.v. to watch women weight-lifters compete in the Olympics while she did ironing. After watching for half an hour, I was so inspired, I decided to do my own imaginary weight-lifting. When she saw this, Mommie stopped her ironing and taught me to say, "Up, Up, Up!" when I lift my weights. So I have been doing this ever since. And I love the crazy applause that always follows!
Hope you are impressed too!
I just might sign myself up to join Baby Olympics if you would organise one.

My 'Page-Turning' Feat

It all started with t.v. My parents discovered that I enjoyed watching Terminator and could sit thru 1 hour of it but could not bear watching Barney for 15 minutes. I cried and cried to be rescued when I saw the Purple Dinosaur singing. So my parents concluded that I might be drawn to violent films instead of kiddy ones. That's when they decided to start me on books.
I like books. They are for trampling on and wiping my feet. I wish I could trample them with my fingers but too bad they are still too weak to do the job.
Good thing I've got powerful feet !

Gas Bag

My parents frown when they see that I frown quite a bit in my sleep.
Sometimes, it's cos I dream that I lost my teat, so I panic.
Most times, it's cos I don't suck very well so I end up drinking gas and becoming more of a gas-bag than a baby.
If only my parents knew this, they'd burp me properly and longer so I could start smiling in my sleep instead.
